The main purpose of your first sentence in your letter or in any writing for that matter is for the prospect to read the second sentence, the second sentence is for the prospect to read the third and so on.

Also, make your first sentence short and straight to the point. Don’t beat around the bush. Your prospects won’t give you time to beat around the bush. Your competitor is just a click away. Get to the facts as quick as possible.
