No More Excuses! Overcome Common Obstacles To Earning More Money

Published by Maku Seun on

Why are you reading this post about overcoming common obstacles to earning more money? Is it not to overcome the common obstacles that prevent you from earning more money? We all want some form of financial success. Having a significant amount of money eliminates most of life’s worry from your life. Money enables you to travel, do new things and it gives you a lot more options.

Even though there are so many people out there who desire to have financial freedom, only very little of them actually get there because we cannot overcome common obstacles to earning more money. But making your very first set of thousands or millions is usually the hard part because it will require you being different from everyone else that is trying and also being different from the person you were.

Finding your own way to earning more money can be challenging. Here are some obstacles you should overcome to start earning more money:

1. Favoring inaction

It is simple to talk about all the things you are going to do and how you are going to get them done. But when it comes to actually doing it, it is difficult. People will applaud you and your dreams but the only way those dreams will come through is if you go out and work on them. Make a change.

It can be scary especially when you are trying out something new, but this is the only way you can get into a growth mindset and actually start improving yourself.

2. Worrying about what other people think

I must admit this has been an issue for me for some time and the only way I overcome this obstacle whenever I am about doing something new is to use the slogan that nobody actually cares until you’ve done it.

Not everyone will approve of your decisions in life and the choices you make. We want to feel loved and accepted and the thought of being potentially rejected by people whose opinion we value can scare the s**t out of us.

There is a benefit in doing things that makes others happy but it shouldn’t be at our own detriment.

When you’re trying to do more to earn more money, you’re going to have to be different from others and what they’re doing. This means you’ll have to say no to going out with friends or doing something completely different than others.

Life’s too short to spend it worrying about what others think of you. If it’s really important to you, then you should just do it and not worry so much about what others might think.

3. Spending time with the wrong people

Nothing sucks the potential out of you than spending time with people whose life goals don’t align with yours.

We are the average of the five people we hang out with.

Are your five closest friends always broke? Are they always complaining about money? And if they are, are they actively doing something about their situation to get themselves out of their financial trouble? If not, you’re rolling with the wrong crowd. Get yourself some new crowd.

This does not mean you should abandon them completely, but rather be thoughtful about the amount of time you spend with them. Spend more time with people who motivate you and who want you to be better.

4. Tendency to blaming others

No one owes you anything and trying to place the blame on someone because you are not making the type of money you should is weak.

Acknowledge that you are not making the type of money you would like to make and then find out how you can make that type of money from your current situation. Then work with that.

There are times when life will not be “fair” and for most of us, our first instinct is to blame someone or the Government.

Placing the blame on others distracts you from figuring out how you can change your situation.

5. Not thinking out of the box

There are so many ways to make more money out there that are basically under the nose. These ways are usually very competitive and tough to make money in, not impossible, but you’ll just have to do more to succeed.

But if you’re able and willing to think outside the box, you’ll be able to find numerous new ways to make more money and also ways to market yourself well.

6. Being complacent

When you fall into a routine, like coming home from work, having a shower, eating dinner and sitting in front of the TV till you fall asleep, it is pretty difficult to change. This is true if you have a family and other responsibilities.

You should be willing to change to make a little more money. For instance, after dinner, instead of sitting in front of the TV for hours till you fall asleep, why not start a side hustle and work on it at this time?

7. Not having confidence in yourself

Even though most people want to achieve wealth and power, most never think they’ll get there. You should have an unshakable self belief in your ability to accomplish what you want to do.

Once you’ve known what you want to do, and you have done your necessary research, believe that you can do it even if it means you’ll have to work harder and smarter.

Not believing in yourself can stop you from making more money.

8. Bad habits

This is perhaps one of the major reasons why it has been difficult for you to earn some extra cash on the side.

Are you in the habit of spending every little dime that enters your account? Do you watch six hours of television every day? Are you always in the habit of maxing out your credit cards and being in debt? If you have any habit you know is holding you back from accomplishing your goal of earning some extra cash, then it is time to change those habits for a good one.

9. Not exploring new avenues

Be willing to try new things. Take risks, travel because you can learn new things when you explore, you open your mind to many new things and many great business ideas.

Also, be willing to learn new things.

10. Not having enough money to start your business

Firstly, there are any businesses out there where you don’t need money to start. But if you’re bent on starting that business where you will need some cash at least to begin, there are also numerous programs out there where you can borrow up to five thousand dollars. This program has helped you to overcome common obstacles to earning more by giving you the much needed tool to start your own side hustle.

Summary

Take action, don't worry what other people think about you or your willingness to earn a little more money, spend more time with the kind of people who motivate you and push you to be better, think outside the box, be willing to change your bad habits and replace them with good ones and finally, explore new things and new avenues if you are serious about making some extra cash and want to overcome common obstacles to earning more money.
